Hello all,
Any help would be great so thank you for your time. OK this is what I have going on. I have a 18 month old dbl door fridge with a bad compressor. I have done all the continuity tests and changed the starter. I know the compressor is dead unless I some how missed a test somewhere. Whirlpool will not fix the fridge and the $300+ repair fee is money I don’t have. So this is what I am asking (1) can I use a good compressor from an old fridge that ran on r12? I know I have to change the oil but I cannot be sure all the old r12 oil is out. By this I mean the oil that has coated internal parts that will not drain out. (2) Will this thin coating of oil cause issues with the new r134 oil? I have drained and pushed air through the compressor to clean out the oil. (3) Do I need to change the drier on the Amana? I will still be using r134 when the job is done. (4) Were can I find spec’s on how much oil to use in the new/old compressor (matsushita D118LGAA U699250)? It is size wise very close to what is in the Amana. (5) How much r134 will I need to recharge the system? Ok thank you and if you can help with any of my questions that would be great help.
