Purple wire to heating element damaged

Brand: GE
Model Number: PTD60EBSR0WS
Main Symptom: Does not heat - purple wire damaged

My purple wire got toasted right at the connection point at the heating element. Could a power surge cause this, as it seemed to happen when the power went out momentarily and then surged back on. Is there any way to fix the purple wire with a splice, or do I need to order a replacement wire for the heating element. And #2, how do I get this part? Thanks!

You should be able to repair the wire if there is enough left, cut the burned portion out and discard. Place a new terminal connector to the end of the wire and reconnect, ensuring a tight connection. If there is not enough wire to cut out the burned/damaged section, then you can replace the wiring harness.
