Problems with GE Electric Dryer

My mom’s dryer is having some trouble. She called me this morning to say that it would not run. I searched the forum and asked her to try holding the start switch to see if it would run. She did that and it did run, she released the start switch and it continued to run as normal.

Do I need to blow out the motor with compressed air? Or is their something more that I should do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks,

Joel

I would take the dryer apart and blow out the inside and clean the vent internal to the dryer and to the outside.

This might work, but the symptoms you describe are usually associated in the GE models with a bad motor. You can try replacing the start switch as it is a lot less expensive but at the end of the day expect to replace the motor.
