Problems with Condenser Fan

I am having problems with this fridge, GE Profile model PDS20SBSBLSS. The control board was replaced about 3 years ago. The recent problem arose when both the freezer and refrigerator were not cooling down. The condenser fan was rotating but very slowly.

I replaced the control board and condenser fan. The voltages at J2 were 12 VDC. This voltage is present at the connection point to the fan motor so there does not seem to be a problem with a break in the wiring. However, the condenser fan still will not start. I checked the resistance of the old fan motor, it was about 200 Ohms. The new fan motor shows about 1.2 kOhms across the red and white.

With an external fan blowing at the back everything works fine except that the condenser fan will not start.

I put 9 V across the new fan motor but nothing happened. Is it possible that the new fan motor is defective?

Any advice as to where the problem may be would be appreciated.

The condensing fan motor is an induction mot, needs ac to run. I would check to see if all the motherboard plugs are plugged in properly.

Thanks richappy. All the plugs are in properly as far as I can tell. The motor 11.6 vdc on it so I figured the 9 V battery would turn it. No luck yet. My plan now is to return motor and try another one. If this does not work then I’ll have to get a service tech in. Hopefully that I can get a suggestion that will work. Thanks.

The board puts out a variable frequency square wave, ie 1/2 the 12 volts your board is not doing that You probably got a bad board.

OK. Thank you for your help. I exchanged the new fan that did not work for another fan and it worked. Unbelievable, but it is all up and running now.
