After looking at my washer for 5 mins, the service tech told me I have a “bad pressure switch.” The price he quoted me for the part and, more specifically, the labor seems ridiculous ($50 part, $170 labor…and he even told me it would only take 20 mins to repair). So, I’m wondering how difficult it is to replace a pressure switch b/c I’d like to do it myself, if possible. Also, the tech mentioned that the reason for the part failure could just be a bad part, or it could have to do with large amounts of sediment in my water. Is this true? I’m connected to the city water supply, so the amount of sediment should be lower than that of a well. I ask b/c if it’s the sediment, then I can’t control it…which means I’ll have to replace this part every few years…which seems like a joke. Please give me your advice. Thank you…trnash9
Pressure switches very rarely fail. What is the symptom that prompted your call for service?
I was getting an “H…F” warning on my display. My washer, while washing in Normal mode would stop after 5 mins and flash H, then F on the display. According to the manual, this means a problem with the water intake. I completed all recommended troubleshooting methods (checked hoses, made sure the water supply was on, checked the intake screens for any blockages), but everything looked fine. The tech put my washer in some mode…ran it for 5 minutes, and was quick to say that I needed a new pressure switch.
