I ordered a new pressure regulator from Appliance Parts Pros however as you can see in photo there is a slight difference. The new part has a compression fitting installed and as you can see on left side of photo, this is different than what’s on there. What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

If the pressure regulator is unscrewed from the brass safety valve adapter, the new regulator should install directly onto the adapter. However, based on the model number you provided, the manufacturer’s information doesn’t match the part shown in your picture. Is it possible that there is a different model number somewhere on your appliance? According to the manufacturer, your model uses the safety valve and regulator assembly shown in this link:

I did enter the wrong model number in post. I used a picture from my parent’s stove accidentally. The correct model number is GW397LXUS06. I edited it in my original post too.

Here is close-up pic of regulator model I currently on stove.

That brass valve adapter just looks so different. I’ll wait for a reply and if you say it’s right, I’ll proceed.

No gap in new part where brass meets the box like there is in the one that’s on there. They just look like they’d be different.

From what I can see, you should have the correct regulator. The old regulator would just need to be unscrewed from the brass fitting going into the safety valve, and the new one should fit in place.

Problem. The nut on new part does not pull outward over the pressure connection like on old part. Can’t connect. See pics. What do I do?

With these gas parts, sometimes the threads just catch on the brass fitting. Does the coupling nut have any wiggle to it? If it does, see if you can wiggle it out and then thread it onto the safety valve adapter.

On the new part, that nut does not come outward at all.

Is there any debris around the nut that is preventing it from moving into position? If not, it may be possible that the nut is on backwards from manufacturing. Is that the case here?

That’s it exactly. Give me time to do a picture. Nut is backwards.

An Allen key can be used to unscrew the fitting and flip the nut in the direction it needs to go. This way you can get your range up and running.

Perfect. I see that.

And that’s how it is done!

Okay oven works with new pressure regulator!

Quick question, my gas tube in the oven is what I’m gonna call dancing especially with the oven door closed. I made a little video. Is there something I should do with this?

Thanks in advance!

Gas tube dancing

If your range is running on LP, the regulator has to be set for LP because it comes from the factory set for natural gas. With the gas shut off, you’ll see a cap on top of the regulator—take that cap off and you’ll find a little limiter pin underneath. Unscrew that pin, flip it upside down, then put the cap back on. That switches it over to LP.

No, gas oven. Gas in house.

Is your gas supply natural gas or LP? Since both are common in households, it’s important to know which one you’ve got so the regulator can be set up for the correct gas type.
