Please Help Me Select From These 2 Machines

Can someone advise on which washing machine to choose. I’ve decided to go with a TOP-LOADER which is HE (energy efficient). It is not like the old agitator machines(only the STYLE is top-loader). The model I’ve chosen is LG # WT4801CW. Has anyone used this machine; what is your experience?

My other choice is a FRONT-LOADER but it is supposed to be a lower-end of the LG series and I’m not sure how good it is. The model is LG # WM2140CW

The TOP-LOADER machines do not have the rubber ring on the door which collects water and makes mold and smells over time, so I thought I would go with this type. My Canadian budget is under $750 total. I’m just looking for something reliable that won’t leak, and gives good hot water wash and doesn’t leave soap behind on the clothes. Some people are complaining of these issues on the new FRONT-LOADERS. Any help is appreciated. If nobody knows about the above 2, then please suggest another reliable machine—thank you.

LG makes great electronics, and good washing machines when they work. When they don’t work they are very difficult to diagnose and repair.

I can only suggest that you purchase a good, basic Whirlpool, GE or Frigidaire basic top loader without, and I stress the without, any electronics. Your clothes will be just a clean and your wallet a whole lot happier.

I agree with Sidfink, parts are hard to get, generally cost more, and most of the time,there are no breakdown diagrams so you don’t know what parts go where.

I agree too, whirlpool would be my first choice.
If you do get a LG consider purchasing the extended warranty with it if that is a option.
