If water is freezing into a slab under the evaporator and on the freezer floor, the drain tube is clogged and would need to be cleaned or replaced. DA97-04049D Refrigerator Drain Cap Assembly | Genuine Samsung OEM In Stock

Yes, I’ve replaced that already and subsequently experienced the same drain freeze problem. I saw the drain heater plate, appropriate for my unit, installed it, and am now perplexed how that will work, as it appears to be too short.

Due to how low the defrost heater goes, the heater clip would not be necessary. If you still wish to use it, it would go on the lowest coil of the heater. If the tube at the back has been replaced, the section running from the freezer out to the tube would need to be cleared.

Thank you, I considered that, but how would it attach and lay there, as it’s now too big/long for the space? The metal is flexible, maybe cut it shorter and twist into the slot?

This is why I was thinking I got the wrong part for the unit.

But along those lines, when I defrost the ice, I do run warm/hot water through the whole drain and it does drain to the bottom, so I think it’s cleared.

The pan still fills up with water though? If that is the case, either the clog was not thoroughly cleared, or the drain tube running from inside of the freezer to the exterior has been pinched.

Thanks again, I edited the prior post, that I do pour water through the pan/tube once ice is cleared - the drain tub is in place.

To clarify, I replaced the but that is accessible from behind the unit, removing the rear panel at the bottom. Is there another part to replace, or clog potential, between the pan visible from inside, and the drain tube from behind? Again, water runs through, after ice is removed.

There is a tube that runs from the interior of the freezer, down to the tube that was replaced. This tube can get pinched in the insulation and cause a slow drain, or there could be debris in there causing a slow drain. Even though water pours through, if it puddles up quicker than it can drain, it will create this issue.

ok, good to know. What is best way to clear that? Would can of compressed air do it?

I found a turkey baster or a pump up sprayer tend to have a good amount of pressure to get in there. I am not sure how well a can of air would work. If you have one on hand, it might be worth a try.

It’s not clear to me then why this part is associated with this unit. Would I be able to return this part as once I see it installed, it appears to really not be relevant to the problem.

Unfortunately, a part can not be returned once installed. It would fall under a manufacturer warranty exchange by the original manufacturer for one year from the delivery date against factory defect, which excludes: not normal “wear and tear” and physical damage.
