Brand: GE Model Number: PGS960EEL1ES. Main Symptom: Inconsistent Oven Temps What happens & when: Both upper and lower oven temperatures are all over the place despite having calibrated multiple times. Oven has also shut off several times during use. I suspect it is the control panel at this point, but do not want to drop $500 if that’s not the source of the problem.

Dbatke718, as this is related to temperature issues, the oven sensors can be tested for resistance (after unplugging the range power cord and turning the gas supply off) to identify if they are an issue. An oven sensor usually measures around 1100 Ohms of resistance at room temperature. If a hair dryer and a temperature probe/thermometer are available, the resistance can be checked by warming the sensor with the hair dryer and having the temperature probe/thermometer next to the sensor. The resistance of a sensor usually increases by 2 Ohms for every 1 degree rise in temperature. If the oven sensors test good, the main control would be the likely cause of failure as it is responsible for sensing the temperature registered by the sensors and operating the ovens’ heat.
