Part NLA-Alternative?

With help from this forum :slight_smile: narrowed problem down to needing oven thermostat.
Have been unable to find part or alternative locally or internet.
Free standing range is in great shape so hate to junk it because of NLA part.

Kenmore model- 103.9337020
Mftr- Roper
OEM part- 2.910.569

Any direction appreciated.

I would take the thermostat to a good sized appliance parts place.

As far as I know the thermostat resistance specs are the same.
What is important is how far it reaches into the oven. So this is what you want the same as the original. If you get a good counter person with experience they may be able to walk in the back and get you a replacement which is close. Also how it mounts but you may be able to fix this.

Now comes the jiggery pokery part.
You may have to drill a new hole in the ovens rear panel and use a self tap screw to get it to mount
You may have to change the plug on the new one to the old one’s plug.
Cut the wires off the new one close to the plug then cut off the old plug with some of it’s wire and splice the two together. Just make sure it is long enough to reach. You could use a couple wire nuts, get the hard black plastic/bakelite type. They will tolerate more heat. Tape or somehow hold them away from the oven case as far as possible this will reduce the amount of heat they get.
If the thermostat is plugged into the harness then it goes to the controls you may be able to splice it directly into the harness.

Thanks for the photos. I wasn’t able to find a direct replacement from anyone, but I have a couple of options for you:

  1. Robertshaw 5320-175 might work but may need a pro to install. This is questionable and once you attempt to install the t-stat, you won’t be able to return it, so keep that in mind.

  2. Contact Repco. They may have your t-stat in stock and if not they may be able to rebuild your old one.

By the way, 234857 is the actual part number.
