Background: Ovens were working fine. The control panel works in that it displays the clock and let’s you pick the type of cooking (bake, broil, convection bake, roast, etc) and set the temp. It shows that it’s heating up but nothing happens.
Analysis: I have tested each of the types of cooking on each oven, nothing works. The fan in the convection oven spins. A few days ago I had to turn off the main power to the house. Don’t know if this caused a problem. The breaker is clearly on and the ovens do have power.
When you say"ovens do have power.", how do you know this.
Have you checked it with a meter for 240 volts?
The control board, oven lights and convection fan all run off of half the line (120 volts) but the elements require the full 240 volts.
Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker.
Check the voltage at the plug
L1 to L2 should be 240 volts
L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts.
If OK
Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out
Note that many built in ovens do not use a terminal strip.
If OK
Check the power at the terminal strip.
Do this with the heater off and on.

Thanks for the tip on the control panel only needing 120v to run. Turned out it was a bad circuit breaker at the panel. It only had one side working so the oven was only getting 120v. Once I replaced the breaker the oven heats up fine.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. It is very much appreciated as it cost me $12 vs probably $100 for someone to come out and fix it.
And thanks for getting back to us. Now when others search for a similar problem they will see what actually worked instead of just suggestions about what could be the cause.
