Brand: General Electric Model Number: GRSR3500ZWW-2 Main Symptom: Oven stops What happens & when: When operating, the oven beeps, then stops heating, and the n the “Door Lock” DEL blinks
None
Parts or tests already tried: Latch mechanism reset (quickly start the oven clean process then stop it. Cut the power (breaker), wait for a few minutes, then reset the power.
When you do the oven reset process, does it run properly for a little while afterward? And when it fails again, does the door actually lock? Those details can help narrow down what’s going on.
This unit has a manual lock. The oven does not actually lock. I suspect it’s just some kind of error code because the door should only be locked for oven auto-clean.
After the reset, I don’t think that the behavior is different.
I would suggest checking the oven sensor and the door lock switches with a multimeter. The switches should have no continuity unless the plunger is pressed if I am correct. The oven sensor should measure about 1100 Ohms at room temperature. If these things test ok, the failure would be in the main control.
Oven sensor = temperature sensor? It has been replaced recently, but I can test it.
Door lock switch… you mean the sensor that determines if the door is locked or not? I guess I could check if the status changes when I lock/unlock the door.
Is the main control typically easy to replace? I have replaced the temp sensor without problem, but I’m not an appliance expert. And how to find the part for it? The appliance part doesn’t show much on Google.
The oven sensor would indeed be the temperature sensor. In regard to the main control, it usually is fairly easy to replace. The back panel of the console would need to be removed after unplugging the power supply cord. Once unplugged and the back panel is off, the control should be held on by a couple of screws. Transfer the wires from the old control to the new control one at a time, remove the old control, then mount the new one in place. The control board for your model would be part number WB36M1111. From what I can find on this part, it looks like it might be discontinued.
