I was given an expensive estimate to repair the microwave in the Thermador double wall oven but it is already 19 years old, so I’m wondering: what is the life expectancy of such an appliance?
As long as a replacement parts available everything is repairable and can be “reanimated”. The main question is: “Is it worth it?”.
This microwave has been designed as a “helper” for regular baking. If you are going to use it as a regular microwave then be aware it has very low output compare to a new microwaves.
Gene.
You’ve probably already surpassed the average life span but there’s no reason if repaired properly couldn’t operate years to come yet. If you were thinking about replacing it you should also take into consideration the difficulty you’re likely going to have finding a replacement that will fit in place of the original without a lot of cabinetry work.
