Brand: Whirlpool Model Number: WFG525S0JS6 Main Symptom: oven and broiler do not light What happens & when: the five burners on the top of the range operate normally. When we try to start the oven or broiler there is no clicking sound and the neither of them ignites. The display on the oven indicates that they are pre heating though. We are located in the Dominican where we have frequent power outages and limited support for appliances. And yes if I do get this range operating again we will do so with an appliance grade surge protector. Any thoughts on which components most likely need replacing? The issue did arise after a series of power outages by the way! Any help would be much appreciated!

The oven igniters are glow igniters. When you turn either one of them on, you should see a faint glow, then they should ignite. if neither one of them is glowing, the main control board is not sending voltage to the igniters and probably took a surge and is defective. If this is what is happening, you will need to replace the board. if they do glow, the board is good, the problem would be with the igniters being weak, or the gas safety valve
I need to make a correction on my previous comment, it is incorrect, I thought you had glow igniters, you don’t you have the DSI system, here is the correct information, sorry about that.
David thanks so much for your response! It would seem that my best approach would be to replace the control board and implement an appliance grade surge protector correct?
I believe so, You should be able to find a surge protector that can handle the amps for that range, being it is gas. I rarely used them on a range, I do use them on refrigerators and microwaves.
