Oven gas smell

I replaced the oven ignitor and the oven still smells like gas when i try starting it. the oven eventually heats up, but it appears to be very inefficient.

What else might I try?

What was the original problem?

when I hit bake, the room smelled like gas and the stove took a long time to heat up. It seems a bit better, but I am unsure if the ignitor was the solution.

I also have a problem with the range. some of the range ignitors spark when others are turned on. In one case, I need to turn on the front right to get the rear left to turn on. It is very strange.

1. How long takes to light up the Bake burner since you turn the control “on”?

2. All top igniters are on the same circuit and they all must spark when anyone turned “on”.

3. Possible the ignition switch for the rear left burner is bad.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Appliance Parts Pros

I will time the oven as it warms up next time. If there is gas smell, what else could it be?

Stephen

Stephen,

Normal ignition time, especially with the new igniter, suppose to be within 60 seconds. By the way, this smell could be similar to gas, but caused by something else.

In order to confirm what is it exactly and where it’s coming from you may want to call a local gas company to perform the leak test. This service is free of charge.
