everything works except the oven does not get gas. the glow igniter gets red hot, and if I pull the bottom drawer out and bang the gas valve with a wrench the gas flows and burner ignites, and the oven gets hot. When the desired temp is reached, the oven kicks off as it should, and when the oven temp drops below the setpoint the gas will not come back on, though the iginiter glows. If I bang the valve again, it turns back on. My guess is the gas control valve, but because I cannot return it if it is not the problem, I thought I would seek pro advise here. thanks, Steve Happy Holidays
Hi Steve,
The problem can be a bad igniter as well as a bad gas valve. You can check the igniter by measuring the current drawn by the igniter while it’s on. If it’s 3.2 amps or less, replace the igniter. Otherwise replace the gas valve.

Thanks, How and where do I test for this current drawn? are there instructions as to how to replace the ignitor? Thank you
You can use a clamp-on amprobe or a multimeter with amps scale. If you are going to use a multimeter, you have to know the safety rules to work under power. Let me know which kind of meter you are going to use.
