The frigidaire error codes go up to F9. Do you have any idea what F20 means?

Hi,

I have a JCBP40w0j2ww GE self-cleaning convection range. For a couple of months, I had been getting the F2 error quite frequently, especially when I would pre-heat the oven at 550F for about an hour. Then, I started to get the F2 pretty much anytime, even at low temps. In the last months, no more F2, the oven just shuts off anytime it feels like it.

Could just changing the temp sensor solve the problem or do I have to spend a lot more to change the whole control panel?

Also, how easy is it to do all of this myself? I’ve never done any electrical repair myself.

Thank you very much!
Patrice

Patrice,

The error code “F2” will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC (Electronic Range Control) or “clock” senses a runaway heat condition during the “cook” or the “clean” modes. It could be caused by the oven temperature sensor, by the ERC or by the wire harness between the oven temperature sensor and the ERC.

The access to the oven temperature sensor plug and the wires is from the back only. You have to pull the range out of the wall. Disconnect the power and remove the rear cover. Check the resistance across the oven temperature sensor at the quick disconnect plug. It is supposed to be about 1100 Ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the oven temperature sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven temperature sensor to the ERC.

It is a good idea to eliminate the sensor quick disconnect plug and reconnect the sensor, using a high temperature porcelain wire nuts. Power up the range and check how the oven works.

If it’s not the sensor and/or wires, replace the ERC.

If you know how to handle a simple tools, this job is not too difficult to do it yourself and you can save a big $$$.

What exactly is wrong with your oven?

The model number you posted does not come up. Verify and repost it.

Hi Gene:

Thanks for responding to my message. My Amana oven is showing F-1 code. Will you be able to send me the corresponding error to that code?

Hi Gene:

Excuse me if I reply on different pages. Still knew to this site.

My Amana keeps on beeping every minute and shows F-1. Help!

Have you verified the model number?

Yesterday, as my wife was cooking a spaghetti sauce in a large pot, the display of my Thermador CIT365DS/01 showed 2 fault codes. First E R4 2, then a few seconds later E R2 2. The fault code disapear as soon as I removed the pot from the induction burner, and came as soon as I put it back in place !

I tried to call Thermador this morning but was told that the explanation of the codes was reserved to technicians and that the cause might be the pot…

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the pots you are using are:

  1. Enameled steel pots and pans.
    2) Cast iron pots and pans.
    3) Special stainless steel utensils for induction cooking

All of the following pans are not valid for induction cooking:

Non-ferromagnetic or non-metallic materials.
Aluminum pots and pans.
Copper pots and pans.
Brass pots and pans.
Standard stainless pots and pans.
Glass (“Pyrex”) containers.
Earthenware pans

Otherwise the error code “ErXY” means: “The touch control has an internal failure” and the repair has to be done by Thermador authorized service. Any parts as well as the diagrams are not available for public by Thermador.

I disconnected membrane panel from ERC and it gave me a new F7 code (membrane unhooked) I had F1-8 and F8-2 codes prior. All membrane switches accept commands but oven turns off after 10 sec and F8-2 displays.
When your oven is flashing an error code, it usually means something specific, for example F3 usually stands for a faulty oven sensor. To help you identify what each code means, we have put together a list of oven error codes (or fault codes, as they’re called). Once you know which component has failed, simply enter your appliance model number in our part search, find and order the part, and we’ll take it from there. If it says that your part is in stock, you can expect to get it in just a few days, usually within 1-2 business days.

F1 error code usually means that either the touch pad or the clock (ERC) is bad. It’s simple if your model incorporates both as a single assembly - replace the clock/touch pad, problem’s solved. But, when the touch pad is a separate component from the clock, how do you tell which of the two has failed, without having to replace both? Well, we have a simple test that can show you whether it’s the clock (ERC) or the touch pad (membrane switch) that needs to be replaced. The test is available on the error code page right below the list of brands.
