Default Frigidaire Electric Range and Cooktop
Model Number: PLES389ECE   Brand: Frigidaire   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

My range with cooktop is just over a year old. I removed it to install a counter top and reinstalled it. Once I plugged it in, the cooktop stopped working completely and when I started the range it worked for maybe 30 secondes and it started beeping and posting an F20 error code. I checked the power connectors and for any loose wires couldnt find anything. I could not find in the error code book anything about F20. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The error code "F20" means "Communication failure between EOC and ESEC
system". The suggested correction action is "1. Test harness/connections P4 (EOC) & P11 (Surface element control board).
2. If harness checks O.K. failure can be caused by faulty UIB, surface element control board, or EOC"

Perform the harness/connections test and post the results.

ESEC is the Electronic Surface Element Control board.

There are two wiring diagrams: one for the oven and the other one is for the surface units. Forget about P11. You have to check connections and the wiring harness between the EOC (P4) and the Surface element control boards.

Gene.

What is shown on the surface units displays?

Look for the tech sheet inside the control panel.

Gene:

I performed multiple power tests on the unit and I found the following.
The feed to the heating elements (in my case P4) does not have power coming from the mother board. Also the limiting switch for the heating elements has no power either.
There is power coming the the mother board.
Do you think the mother board is shot?

Remove the rear panel and check the safety thermostats (#219 & #219A on the diagram) for continuity. Check the proper voltage at the wall outlet. Post the results.

This wiring diagram might be better.

Gene:

We tested the thermostats and they all work when there is power to the oven. Anything related to the oven seems to work fine and there is no power what so ever from the EOC to the burners. There is no power going to the limiting switch for the cooktop at all. You think I should order an EOC and replace it to see what happens?

Thanks,

Before you order any part (which are not returnable if installed) you may want to make sure there is power TO the EOC. The wiring diagram from my previous reply might help you.

If the EOC has incoming power but nothing goes out then the EOC most likely is bad.

- The EOC Part number: AP3874704

Part number: AP3874704
