My oven stopped working about 3 weeks ago in the middle of baking something. The element just stopped heating. So at first I assumed it burned out. Then I tried the broil function and it doesn’t work either. So obviously both elements didn’t burn out simultaneously. I’ve been googling a bit and it seems it could be the ERC. By the look and sound (clicks) of it, the off/on switches appear fine. The clock works and the cooktop is just fine.
So if it is the ERC how do I find out how much that part is? I called a local repair shop and he said with parts and labor it will cost $330 to repair. That is crazy!
Is this something I could order and possibly do myself? Even though I’m a girl, I’m pretty handy around the house. I do all the projects.
Is this guy ripping me off? How much is the part really and how hard is it? Why would this die so soon? My oven is only 2 years old!!!
Here are your parts Replacement parts for FRG FEF336ECE | AppliancePartsPros.com
Check out item 20 in the “Backguard” section.
It is Item F20 at the bottom of the parts listing.
You may also need an overlay(20A), if the old one does not come off easily.
Before ordering anything, check that the wiring to the elements is OK (no wires burned off).
I would also check to see if this unit has a thermal circuit breaker, though I do not see one in the parts breakdown,
Also not a bad idea to check the temp sensor.
When working on the unit be sure to unplug it as 240 volts is lethal
