Hello,
I have an old Hotpoint washer from the 80’s. The agitator comes in two parts, with the inner one not being able to properly attach itself to the drive shaft. I imagine that the teeth inside it have worn out as the drive shaft tip itself looks fine. The washer works fine, it fills up, goes through the cycle and drains, but the agitator will only spin if I hold it down. After a few minutes it releases its grip from the shaft and just wobbles on top.
Problem is, there are no plates or any kind of model numbers on the thing and so I can’t identify the correct model number of the machine. The agitator itself just says 134D6236 on it, but that’s not anything I can Google.
Here’s a picture of the washer:
The drive shaft:
And the inner agitator:
If anyone can identify the machine or the part number of a compatible inner agitator, that’d be amazing. Alternatively, is there a way I can do the repair myself? I thought of maybe using some sort of strong adhesive inside the agitator in the hopes that it “sticks” to the drive shaft?
Any ideas are highly appreciated. Thanks!
