Over the past year, there have been some mysterious oil/grease markings on clothes. It finally got worse last few loads and so I removed the agitator and see that there has been an oil leak underneath it. I would like to try to fix it if that part(s) would not add up too much $. I am curious if it is just a broken seal or?? I have taken pictures if anyone would have an idea of what would need to be fixed.

Well let’s hope for the best and hope that the problem is a bad tub seal that has allowed water to get down into the mode shifter assembly and that the mode shifter is not damage and that the whole thing can be fixed by changing out the tub seal.
It is an inexpensive part,

and there is a nice video that shows you how to change it out. If the mode shifter is damaged by dripping water though this will not be a long term fix.
