Yes — with the LFTR1835VFB completely silent except for the interior light, the cold control/temperature control thermostat #5304522330 is a strong suspect. That is the correct thermostat listed for this model, and its job is to switch the cooling system on and off.

I would test it before replacing anything else.

Quick thermostat test

First, turn the temperature knob slowly from OFF toward the coldest setting. Normally you should hear a small click, followed by the compressor/fans attempting to start.

If absolutely nothing happens, unplug the refrigerator and access the temperature control in the control housing at the top/center of the fresh-food compartment.

Disconnect the wires from thermostat 5304522330 and test across its switching terminals with a multimeter:

  • Set the meter to continuity or lowest ohms.
  • Turn the thermostat to a normal/cold setting.
  • A good thermostat should show continuity — roughly 0 Ω or very low resistance.
  • Turn the control to OFF and it should go OL/open.

If it remains OL/open even with the control turned cold, replace 5304522330.

Another useful test

With the refrigerator unplugged, the two wires that normally pass power through the cold-control switch can be temporarily connected together. Insulate the connection carefully, then restore power.

If the compressor and fans immediately start, that is very strong confirmation that the cold control is bad.

Do not leave it bypassed — this is only a diagnostic test because the refrigerator won’t have normal temperature control while bypassed.

If bypassing the thermostat still gives you a completely silent refrigerator, don’t order the thermostat yet. At that point I’d move to the compressor start device/wiring and verify whether the compressor is actually receiving line voltage. This model also has a separate compressor start device, so replacing the condenser fan motor wouldn’t correct a no-start condition caused elsewhere.

Based on light works + no compressor + no fans + completely silent, I’d check 5304522330 first.
