Noisy Maytag refrigerator

The refrigerator cycles with a “groaning” sound. Unplug the frig,…plug it back in,…the cycling “groan” stops. What’s up? -other than the totally loud obnoxious noise, the thing seems to work fine.

On a lot of the Maytags I have serviced, there seems to be obnoxious vibration noises around the plastic drip tray and the copper refrigerant lines. Only a dampening material placed ‘just so’ will stop the noise. Another possible source of the noise could be the condenser fan bracket, especially if screws are missing. These problems are aggravatingly difficult to diagnose if the refrigerator is on an attractive-but-uneven stone floor.

My refrigerator “groans” repeatedly…until I open the freezer drawer. If I push the drawer switch for the light, it stops. As soon so release the button, the noise starts again. Any ideas? Is there something else linked to the drawer switch besides the light?
