no spin, door switch is good

Machine washes and agitates fine, but will not spin.Trouble code E41, “Controller thinks the door is not closed”. Door switch is good. When in spin cycle, pump motor runs but spin motor does not. There appears to be 1-2 inches of water remaining in the bottom of the tub. If this is not normal, then the pump is not completing the drainage. It would be nice to know what inputs are needed by the controller board in order to spin. Does anyone know if a controller board will fix this problem?

This model has a lot of problems with the door lock assembly, the motor control board and the main control unit.

Inside the lower service panel are tech notes that should show you how to put it into test mode and diagnose it. Ultimately you may have to replace parts one at a time, but if you buy from this site you can return parts that you don’t need or don’t fix the problem.

The water remaining in the tub was the clue that led to a solution. If the pump doesn’t pump out water quickly enough, the washer will not go into the spin cycle. The coin trap was plugged with cotton fibers from a bath rug that was recently washed. Cleaning the pump coin trap solved the problem. The coin trap needed an additional cleaning due to residual cotton fibers remaining inside the tub. The trouble code was misdirection. I replaced the controller assembly, but saw no change in the operation.
