Have a Frigidaire gas dryer (FDGC875GHSO) and am getting no heat. Runs but no heat. I have read a lot here today so I think I have the problem identified. Just need some confirmation:
-
Cleaned out all lint, in blower fan, exhaust, ect.
-
Got 110V to the Burner Assembly…that should eliminate any issues with thermostats and sensors up the line.
-
Ignitor looks good and tests at 62 ohms
-
Flame Switch tests for continuity.
So would it be agreed that the Gas Valve Solenoids are the problem?
If so, does the gas need to be turned off to replace those?
Thank you for your help.
Check that model number, doesn’t come up. Can you see the glow of the igniter? You don’t have to shut off gas to replace the coils.

Thanks for the reply, Eric. Model is FDG875GHSO.
Yes, the igniter does glow for a few seconds and goes out. I am guessing that is how it is supposed to work, but the valves don’t open to let the gas out.
As for shutting of the gas to replace them, I watched a video here on how to replace them. Piece of cake. Great site…so full of information.

Yes, when dryer is first turned on, only one of the gas valves opens. The other gas valve coil is shorted out by the flame sensor. When the ignitor heats up, the flame sensor opens killing power to the igniter and energizing the other coil so the second valve opens. The igniter is still hot enough to ignite the gas.

Thanks Eric. New valve coils and we got heat and dry clothes.
