No frost on the evaporator coils

The Brand of my fridge is a Kirkland, but it is made by Whirlpool. The problem is that about two days ago the freezer and fridge stopped producing cool/cold air. The evaporator fan works, the condensor fan works, the condensor coils are clean, the compressor has a click when I plug it in, but no excessive clicking. The question I have is that the evaporator coils have no frost on them. If it was a partial or uneven frost, I at least semi-know the answer from reading various posts…but what does no frost mean? Does it a faulty defrost thermostat? Or does it mean that my coolant system is busted and it may be better to get a new fridge?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your compressor start device is probably bad. Pry it off the side of the compressor and replace if it rattles when shaken, AP3885081. Make sure to plug in the run capacitor into the start device.

You’re awesome. That did it. Compressor start device replaced and now all is good. Thanks for your asssit.

Glad you got it fixed. Would be a good idea to put a 1000 joule surge protector in the wall outlet, will prevent future blowouts. About $9.00 at Wall Mart.
