No electrical in dryer

The dryer was in a basement flood of 3 inches of water. It was plugged in but not running. I have no electrical in the cabinet. Nothing on the control panel and no internal lights.

Any ideas?

It is almost certain that the water shorted out some part of the Dryer. I strongly advise you to replace it even if you can get it running again. Dryers are not that expensive. It is simply not worth the risk, I mean, would you buy a dryer that had been damaged in a flood?

Big dryer was 80% off. Gas model on 110 volts. Need to fix it. Could it be the relay box. Everything else was way above water

Well I understand that this is a very nice and very expensive machine. Actually, the fact that it is a gas dryer worries me more than if it were a 240v electric. The reason is that the gas burner and the electrical safety devices on it are low in the cabinet and may have been damaged by the water. I would ask you again, would you buy and put in your house a dryer that you knew had been flooded out?

Here is what the service manual on your model says for diagnosing a failure to start up.

Since you have no power whatsoever I am guessing that either a wet switch or a water damaged switch at the bottom of the dryer caused your control board or console to short out. Check to see if power is coming into the control board. If so, you can start by replacing the control board, the less expensive part and the one more likely to be damaged. Of course, if the switch that caused the problem is still shorted out you may just blow the replacement part.

Maytag has a service manual on this model but they will not release it to the general public. I would try to get them to release a copy to you.

Good luck.

Can you tell me how to get to the relay board on the bottom of the dryer? Since this is a drying cabinet over the drum dryer and is feet tall, do I have to completely take everthing out to get to the bottom

You can access the innards by removing the console and then taking off the front panel. As I said, Maytag has a very good service manual for this model but I cannot link you to it. If Maytag will not allow you access to a copy then I suggest you try to find a free or inexpensive download on the net. Many time the auction sites will have manuals for download at a very low cost.
