New part does not fit the old

Brand:GE
Model Number: JGBP26WEW1WW
Main Symptom: Ignitor sparks, but does not light
Order #17181665

I bought a new burner spark (part # AP6032117 (WB18X26988) to replace the old one (which has been discontinued). Well, I received the new model and they DO NOT fit through the hole (the white ones are the new ones and the others are the old ones), as you can see on the pics attached, so I was unable to fix the issue. I called customer service and was told to post it here and someone would, hopefully, share with me what the resolution is… GE decides to discontinue a part and the new one doesn’t fit correct… what a joke!

Unfortunately, that’s the only igniter we offer for your model.

The best option would be to cut the terminals off your old igniters and splice them onto the new igniters so they’ll fit your existing wiring harness. If the original terminals are burned or damaged, most local hardware or appliance parts stores carry replacement high-temperature terminals. Just be sure to use terminals that are specifically rated for high-temperature appliance applications, as standard electrical connectors are not suitable for this repair.

If you have any questions while making the repair, feel free to reach back out and I’ll be happy to help.
