New motherboard works worse than the old one

I replaced the motherboard on a G.E. STS22ICMBRWW refrigerator freezer because the freezer was working intermittently and continued to do so after I cleaned the condensor and the entire underside of the unit. I noticed that I could get the compressor to kick on after unplugging it and plugging it back in several times and hearing the “clicking noise” that everyone with this issue reports on the internet.

The new motherboard would not work at all so I put the old motherboard back in and it has been working for the last several days. I believe that I put the new motherboard in correctly as I matched the connections with the terminals on the new board and it is pretty difficult to mismatch them because of the number of pins/connections per plug.

Does anyone have any idea why the new motherboard will not work? I would like to know if I made a mistake before I return the part, as I believe that I am on borrowed time with the old motherboard.

Thanks.

I had some additional time after Christmas to work with this part and I believe that I did not wait long enough to allow it to start to work. I installed it again today and gave it some time. After a few minutes it kicked in and started working properly.

The take away for anyone who may do this in the future is to give it a little time. It won’t kick the compressor on right away, even if the system is calling for it.
