I’m thinking of buying this model (GTWN2800DWW) for my new house, as I’ve learned this is the last one still made that is not “high efficiency.” My last washer was a Kenmore direct drive, and it was easy to fix. Only thing that broke in 14 years of heavy use was the motor coupler and agitator dogs.
I want to know if I will be able to repair this one myself. Appliance Parts Pros does not list any parts for it. The closest model number that comes up is GTWN3000M0WS. Is this a similar washer? That one shows it has a pulley drive. Will it last long and be easy to work on myself?
The main drawback I see is that there is only one agitator speed setting.
I think you have answered your own question with the comment that your old one lasted 14 years with only one repair and was easy to fix.
The basic Whirlpool, Kenmore, Roper, Estate, Admiral, Maytag machines have the same basic parts as your old direct drive machine. They are inexpensive and do just as good a job as the GE.
Buy one and save, both money, time and aggravation.

Can you give the model number of one. The only reason I was looking at this GE is that I was led to believe it was the last washer still made that is not “high efficiency” --meaning it limits water use, and locks up so you can’t change it. Let me know If you know of any washer still being manufactured that lets you choose the water quantity, is direct drive, and has speed control from delicate to regular.
Go to any major appliance retailer and look at the brands I mentioned above and you will find that the basic top loaders all meet your requirements. What you want is the basic Whirlpool top loader and it comes in a number of different brand names and with different features.
