Replacing evap fan… done. Then going to put fridge back together, paint flaking and chipping off metal auger drive assembly cover. Decide to repaint. Can’t get drive off. Appliance person told me with older model like this, it would need to be cut off. Well it still works so I wasn’t planning on cutting it off. I will mask and paint. So does it make sense that it won’t come off??
Good question. The coupling usually comes off by turning it to the right. The threads are typically backwards. See if that makes a difference. Here is the part and a video. WR60X10258 Ice Auger Motor | Genuine GE OEM In Stock
it just turns. i’ve looked at all the videos. does it make any sense what the appliance guy said about on old models he has to cut the drive fork off? does me repainting the cover make sense? Rustoleum appliance epoxy. I’ve been scraping off the chipping paint. do i have to scrape it all off or just sand it? thank you for any help
Also, i just reviewed the video you attached. So my drive has a nut and i see the one in the video doesn’t? so i am thinking my nut is stuck?
DO GE refrigerators have WEEP holes in the freezer door liner??? I have very small holes on inside freezer door like 4 on each side where the bins attach
this is embarrassing… I am putting the refrig back together and i don’t know about all the screws. I don’t understand the different lengths… do the longer ones go into the back wall to hold the evap fan cover on? and the metal brackets on the side walls to hold the auger motor on … are those short?
ok. figured out the short stubby ones are for icemaker to metal support bracket on back of fridge. Mainly wanted to confirm the longer sharper ones were for back. NOW my only question is making sure the ice maker is plugged into the correct connection vs the auger motor connection. looking up the wire diagram to check
