The compressor has stopped, I found a trace on the control board blown off. I jumped the damaged section of the board for a couple of seconds, and the compressor comes on, but there is obviously another load that is shorted and causing the circuit card to blow the traces.
My machine has not got a schematic that I can find, normally they are folded up and stored in a plastic bag somewhere on the machine.
I found the trouble by following the smoke. There is a part, P/N 2212194, START-DEVICE, that has failed – shorted.
I’m looking at the exploded view, page 18 (Rev. A), and there is a part shown that my machine has not got. Item 16 on the referenced page is damaged, and took out the main control panel, but there is Item 12 on the page that my machine is lacking. On my machine, Item 16 was secured to the side of the compressor with a wire-tie.
Item 12 appears to be a simple cover, and the absence of the cover should not cause any particular problems. What is the purpose of Item 12, can I accomplish effective repairs and still omit this part from the machine?
THAT PART AP3885081. DOES NOT WORK!!! IT IS NOT THE RIGHT ONE AND WILL NOT ADAPT TO THE COMPRESSOR FOR THAT MODEL REFRIG!
I JUST ORDERED IT AND AM NOW IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING AN RMA REFUND WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY LOSING ALL THE MONEY I SPENT IN SHIPPING!
The reply you quoted is for different refrigerator with different model number. Nobody on this forum gave you specific part number.
Have you read the instruction sheet which came with this kit? It says “…for use on side by side refrigerator with EGY80 & EGY90 Type compressors ONLY!”.
Did you find what type of compressor is in your refrigerator?

Yes I have EGY90
The instruction sheet is a bunch of BS that doesn’t show you how to use new part to replace a totally different old one.
This part and its instruction sheet made by Whirlpool, the manufacturer of your refrigerator. If the compressor is EGY90 then this relay is the correct part and it should work properly. No doubt about it. If you still have it and can post the instruction sheet, we might be able to help you with installation.

I did figure it out on my own and from no help here even on other thread I started.
The fact that the kit comes with more parts than you need and the pictures and text in the instructions are lacking essential info didnt help either.
Solution:
Don’t use big white things.
Put small overload on first. (choose correct one for fridge)
Put black relay device on second.
put jumper wire on black relay device
attach jumper to white wire in fridge (not mentioned in manual)
attach blue wire to right side of black relay
attach red wire to bottom of small white overload.
put black cover on over all that.
put panel back on fridge.
plug in fridge
move fridge back to place
sell left over parts on EBAY
Use money from sale of left over parts to buy a coil cleaner brush.
Hi I have the same troubles you do, a store here sold me a box of parts I can’t figure out what I should do . I’m so lost my model number is KSRS25ILBL01 I took the part off it was 1 part wires puted off and store sold me a box of parts #8201786 not sure what to do except cry. you made me laugh to your last coment Thanks…But I still am not sure what to do now. I just wanted the same part plug on and donemy compressor is also a egy90
yea, it gets real derpessing just before the dawn of figuring it all out.
Here is a pic of my parts. http://home.fuse.net/alan93/compressor3.jpg
I used the black one and one of the white ones (see#2), and the jumper wire. I didn’t use either of the big white things (old and new). And put a cover on the whole thing, I think it came with that too.
It helps to read the instructions about 20 times, it tends to make more sense after that.
So essentially , there are three prongs on the compressor i believe? The black one has 2 holes and the small white one has the third hole.
Next is the jumper. Sorry I didn’t take a picture of the finished but I was just wanting to be DONE with it.
Couldn’t sell parts on eba*y either.
Hi again, I think I know what I will do, {leave it for a man to worry about it} lol I will use the cross number on the lower part on the sheet, than use the black one that it’s by it self, than use the jumper for the double white wires, put the blue one on the other side and the red on the bottom, put cap on and call it done, plug it in call girlfriend to plug it in , and leave to shop for new one lmao …you made me laugh so hard about EbayThanks for making a bad day good …Thank You
