Need New Touchpad? Part #?

5 buttons on the lower right side of my touchpad have stopped working. My wife was cooking on the stove below and smelled heated plastic (microwave was off).

Does it sound like I just need to replace the touchpad? Does anyone know the part # ? I’ve searched for a while on the internet and have not found it.

Thanks for reading,
Tim

Hi Tim,

Most likely the problem is a bad touch pad. The model number you posted does not come up. The closest model number I found is JVM1730DMBB01. Verify and repost it.

Gene.

Thanks Gene,

The sticker on the inside of the microwave has JVM1730DM1BB but it appears the same as JVM1730DMBB on the GE website & the owner’s manual I have has JVM1730.

I’d appreciate any insight you have about this. Thanks

Tim

I am not a technician but I spent FOREVER looking for a keypad/touchpad for one of our technicians. I ended up getting it here at appliancepartspros.com and was called a membrane switch which really threw me! But it has been installed and was a keypad…maybe a tech here knows why it is alternatively called a membrane switch? Debi

Tim,

Touch pad, key pad and membrane switch in most cases are three different names for the same part.

The touch pad for your microwave comes as a part of the control panel assembly and in order to provide the correct part number I need the color of it.

Gene.

The microwave is black.

Thanks for your patience Gene.

Hi Tim,

The part number for the black control panel assembly is AP3993527

Looks like this part is on backorder.

Gene.

Gene,

Many thanks for your help. I received the part today and installed it in about 15 minutes. It’s working as good as new.

With your help and this website, I was able to repair my microwave for $100.

Tim

We are glad you were able to fix it. Happy New Year!

Gene.
