Need help replacing updated Whirlpool condenser control unit

My compressor runs but the condenser fan does not. Various sites indicated the failed part was the condenser control unit, part AP4308835 (also known as the invertor box). I ordered the part from this site, but when it arrived I learned that Whirlpool has updated the part and it’s not an identical of the one I have.

The old part is hardwired to the condenser. The new part has a three-wire plug plus an extra ground wire.

Should I cut both cables (the condenser cable and the one stemming from the new control unit) and just join them with terminal caps and electrical tape? Or should I look for an older control unit? Or should I call a professional!

Thanks!
Paul

(P.S. I did verify no voltage coming out of the old unit, and that the old fan works fine when there’s power. It’s not the fan!)

Do Not cut any cables! manufacturers often update replaced parts, however, NO modification needs to be done to replace the board. It may plug in an area of the board different from before, but altering any electrical connections is extremely inadvisable, unless directly instructed to do so from the manufacturer. If connections dont seem possible without modifications, its possible the part you received is incorrect. There should be a part number stamped or tagged on the part itself, dont just go by the number on the box. If the part is the same, I would recommend having a qualified whirlpool refrigerator service company at least take a look.
