Need advice on a Whirlpool

I am not sure of the year but I bought this off craigslist and when I have it hooked up it will not work, but I hear some sounds that sound like they are coming from behind where you turn to select the amount of dry time

Can you describe how did you hook it up? You have to have 240 VAC outlet for this dryer.

Gene.

It has the same plug as my other dryer

Check the thermal fuse (#59 at the diagram) for continuity. Replace if it’s open.

OK that video said if the dryer isnt heating that would be the main cause, but mine doesnt even turn over. Could this still be an issue?

I can not remove the back, I removed every screw. I removed the front and I think I may have found it, is this it? On the panel I took off to get to this it said to replace the fuse and resistor. Also to find what caused it. I uploaded a pic of it

Yes, this is it. Only for the test you can bypass it to see if the dryer will start to work.

Can you verify what exactly is written there. “Resistor” sounds not right.

P.S. Your dryer is very different with one shown in the video. The access to the thermal fuse in your dryer is from the front. It is pretty visible if you will click on the diagram link.

I replaced the thermal fuse and it is still doing the same thing. It sounds like a fast clock almost, tick tick tick tick tick

Remove the toe panel. Make sure the belt is not broken and is in place. Check the broken belt switch which is under the idler pulley (#5 at the diagram).

Gene.

The only belt I saw seemed fine. I made the drum rotate around by hand by pulling on the belt

I did mention 2 parts: the belt and the belt broken switch. Did you see it in the reply and did you check it? If you did, why I did not see it in your report?

Gene.

How do I tell if it is broken?

You have to check it for continuity. With the belt in place it should read closed circuit.
