My 3 year old son dropped a pencil into the slot where the filter goes in front is there anyway that the front can come off or how do I get into there to get it out because it makes a horrible sound if turned on? Please help desperate mommy needs dryer working !! I also was wondering if it should still be under warranty if I bought it out right from RENT-A-CENTER
Well, 3 year olds are 3 year olds. We have all had them.
If you will post a model number we can tell you how to get the pencil out.
As for the warranty, check with the seller but I doubt they will come out and service it for this problem.
sorry but for some reason I thought it was a GE but it is a whirlpool and the model number is WED8300SW0
TYPE: DHZN-ELE-2406024-EL54
MOD Number is WED8300SW0
Ok, you have a Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer
If you take out the lint filter you can then take off the outflow grid that is between the lint chute and the drum by taking out screws from the inside.
This should allowyou to get to the pencil. If it does not, you need to take off the front and maybe the blower cover. This manual will show you how.
Good luck, and watch that dickens of a three year old!
that is what I was going to do but had been procrastinating about it cuz didnt know if I got all tore apart was i going to run into more problems I went in with the vacuum from the back where the vent hose goes on it and one of the pencil peices came out so obviously the pencil is broken in there now I just tried to see if it would still make the noice now it sounds 99 percent worse it has a high squeel [quote=sidfink43;140462]Ok, you have a Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer

Sounds like it has gotten in the blower wheel. Just take your time, follow the directions, and if it will make you feel more comfortable get a friend to be there with you. I don’t think you can harm anything.
