Hi lilboy,

To check what is going on with your washer, you’ll need to enter Diagnostic Mode.

Here’s how:

The unit must be in Standby mode (powered off with no active indicator lights). Rotate the cycle selector dial counterclockwise two full rotations, then quickly turn it 3 clicks clockwise, 1 click counterclockwise, and 1 more click clockwise.

Once you’re in Diagnostic Mode, check for any error codes. There should also be a mini service manual located behind the front panel. The manual explains the meaning of each blinking light and the blink patterns, which can help identify what’s wrong with your washer.

The first thing I would recommend, for the issue you are having with your washer MVWC465HW2, is running the automatic self test in the diagnostic mode. I have attached the tech sheet but here are the general steps you’ll need to follow.

Running the Washer’s Automatic Diagnostic Test

Step 1: Put the Washer in Standby Mode

  • Make sure the washer is plugged in.

  • All indicator lights should be off.

  • If you just plugged it in, wait at least 10 seconds.

Step 2: Enter Service Diagnostics

Using the cycle selector knob, perform the following sequence within 6 seconds:

:right_arrow: Right 1 click → pause ½ second
:right_arrow: Right 1 click → pause ½ second
:right_arrow: Right 1 click → pause ½ second
:left_arrow: Left 1 click → pause ½ second
:right_arrow: Right 1 click

Quick Tip: Remember it as Right – Right – Right – Left – Right

If successful, all status lights (except Lid Lock) will flash on and off.

Step 3: Select the Automatic Test

  • Turn the cycle knob until the “Done” light is the only light illuminated.

  • Press START.

Step 4: Let the Washer Test Itself

The washer will automatically check major functions, including:

  • Lid lock

  • Cold water valve

  • Hot water valve

  • Agitation

  • Drain pump

  • Spin

  • Lid unlock

The test usually takes about 5–10 minutes to complete.

Step 5: Review Results

  • If the test completes normally, the washer has passed the basic functional checks.

  • If the washer stops during the test or displays a fault code, record the code and share it for further troubleshooting.
