Motor Mount Scraping Against Floor

My washing machine has been making these loud clunking noises and I discovered that the motor mount on the bottom of the drum is rubbing against the ribs on the floor of the washer. I have installed new tension rods (that hold up the drum) thinking would be the most logical solution. Apparently it wasnt…or at least wasn’t the only thing wrong

The model number of the GE Washer is Whre5550k2ww

The first video is before I changed the tension rods holding up the drum. You can see the metal at the bottom of the motor mount rubbing against the ribs at the base of the floor. The second video shows the same thing, but after I replaced the rods. (It also shows the water/clothes level, which is about halfway up the drum.) For some reason the second video is stuck on portrait mode, sorry)

I have tried with with the water/load level on Small with a pretty small amount of clothes and it doesn’t scrape.

Can this be fixed? Am I going to be limited to super small loads of laundry forever, or should I just get a new washing machine?

I suspect that a part of the structure that supports the motor et. al. is broken but cannot be seen, in which case you are talking about taking everything apart to find the problem. Once you have done this, not a difficult job but not an easy one either, you may find that the cost of the part is not worth the fix.

I think a new basic top loader will do a great job for you and be a better use of your time and funds.
