For GE GUD27ESSM1WW, the fact that the old failing board powers/operates the unit but the new board does nothing points first to the replacement board, its configuration, or a connection issue—not the rest of the machine.

GE lists the main Board & Support Assembly as WH16X27251 for this model. The controls also use a separate software jumper harness WE15X27302, so make sure that jumper/harness was transferred and connected exactly as it was on the old board.

Check these in order:

  1. Compare old and new board part numbers. Make sure the replacement crosses directly to WH16X27251 for your exact model/serial.
  2. Transfer every plug/jumper from the old board. Pay special attention to the small software/jumper connection. A missing configuration jumper can make a replacement board appear dead or behave incorrectly.
  3. Inspect connector pins. Look for a pushed-back terminal, bent pin, or connector one position off.
  4. With power disconnected, reinstall the old board. If it immediately comes back to life again, that is strong evidence the incoming power, harness, and UI are capable of operating.
  5. If all connections and the part number are correct, I would consider the new board defective or incorrectly supplied before replacing anything else.

I would not condemn the UI, lid lock, motor, etc. yet, because the old motherboard working when reinstalled is the key diagnostic clue.
