Monogram Advantium fuze holder melted

I smelled plastic/electrical burning so I stopped the advantium. I opened up the top and found that the fuze holder (part #AP3621906) was melting around the fuze.

I tested the fuze (part #AP2631556) and is shows continuity. It appears that the fuze got hot enough to melt it’s holder without breaking the circuit. There is slight heat damage to the cable ends where they plug into the fuse holder. There is no damage to the PCB relay assembly that the fuze holder mounts onto.

I am thinking that there is another issue causing the overheat and that the fuze failed to do it’s job. I have not taken more of the microwave apart since the only place I could smell burning was at the fuze.

Does anyone know what part the fuze is supposed to protect. Or has anyone ever heard of just a simple fuze failure being the entire problem? Thanks for your help.

Hi.

The weak connection may cause the overheating of the fuse.
Replace the fuse and the holder.

Thank you.

Simon.

Thanks simon. I will give it a try.

You are welcome.

Simon.

Hey Steve did you fix your burning plastic problem? I have this same unit and a few days ago it smelled like burnt plastic.
