PN LG7681XSW2. I removed and disassembled the moisture sensor from the drum back. It consists of two strips mounted on black plastic. Each strip is about 3/8 inch across and about 3 inches long. One strip is connected to a wire and the other strip is connected to ground through its mounting tab. The two strips are completely isolated from each other. I cleaned all three parts. The only way I can see this sensor working is when the clothes are wet, they rub the sensor causing current to flow from the wire, into its strip, through the clothes, and into the grounded strip. Is this correct or is there some magical property in the sensor?
A voltage is applied to the non grounded strip.
When the sensor is dry there is no current path between the strips.
When the sensor is wet/damp the moisture provides a current path between the strips and a small current flows.
The control board sees this current and then knows that the clothes are not dry so holds the timer advance at off.
Thank you. That’s what I was thinking.
