I have a Modern Maid oven, DGO757, and need to replace the ignitor. When I follow the ignitor wires they go inside the back of the oven, and into insulation. I bought this house 3+ years ago and never got the manual for the oven. Modern Maid is no longer in business and I can’t find diagrams of the oven on line. How and where do I connect the ignitor. Thanks for your help.
Do I need to take the oven out of the wall to find the electrical connections.
Oven igniter has two wires. One of the wires comes from the oven control and the other goes to the valve. Igniter wires either connect via ceramic wire nuts or a plastic plug. Since this is a Modern Maid oven, chances are wire nuts are being used. New igniters usually come with a pair of high temperature resistant wire nuts. Replace the igniter using the wire nuts provided.
If you don’t see any connection in the igniter wires (not very likely, but possible), you can simply cut the wires about 6 inches from the igniter and re-connect the new igniter using wire nuts.
Hope this helps.
I’m going to give it a shot, this thread came up in a google search. Im having the exact same problem, ignitor looks hot but maybe isnt, starts to smell like gas then whoosh it lights but it burns a little of that gas thats just floating around. WIll see if local hardware store has the part or I can order online
