Hi guys! Our microwave does not run when we press Start. The timer starts to count down and the light turns on but it doesn’t heat and the fan doesn’t run. Any suggestions?

Other threads indicated that this might be related to one of the door switches failing to accurately report closure of the door. On my 15 year old Sharp 1000 Watt model, I rapidly opened and closed the door 8-10 times, to ensure that the mechanical component of the electromechanical switch assembly was properly registering its active state. Somehow, the switch reverted to working properly again, without any servicing necessary.
While this is likely to only be a temporary fix, it was an issue that self-rectified several years ago without presenting the underlying issue. Should the issue reappear, now, it seems clear what must be done to resolve.
