Microwave makes loud hum and does not heat

I have a GE Profile over the counter microwave Spacemaker XL 1800 Model JVM1860SF001 Serial number VD993317S. It is about 6 years old.

It recently quit heating any food or beverage. It makes a loud noise while operating too. Sort of like a loud laboring hum sound. It was having some problems before when heating chocolate - it would make noises then too when heating. I’m not sure if that is related but I thought I would mention to help diagnose the problem.

I would like to try to repair myself if safe to do. Also would like to know options for professional repair because these machines are very expensive to buy new.

Ben, I know your post is not current and there’s no replies, but I have one that is doing the same thing and same model…Did you ever find the problem?..And was it repaired?..As of yet, I’ve not found an answer to this, nor a way to get into the inner workings of this appliance…Any info would be appreciated…
