Microwave intermittently stops when started

Hello, I had a business some years ago, I worked on microwave ovens. I have run in to a few senior moments. I have a GE above stove microwave oven only 4 years old, every thing about the cabinet works good, lights, stove fan works good. The problem I’m having is some times when I use the microwave oven the unit comes on and it scrambles the clock and turns off. I have tested the diode for leakage and found none, tested the BIG cap and it’s good.

I remember in some of the older units the PC board had a Cap Battery for the processer memory, when there was a moment of high current the Cap Battery would hold the memory and the clock.

If this is the case on this board, can someone point me in the direction of that Cap and or part number… The biggest Cap on the board is 470uF@35Volts, Please let me know if I’m looking in the right place. I don’t have a small cap tester, just for the big caps.

Thank you for your time.

If the display resets by itself and the microwave stops a few seconds after start then the problem is a bad magnetron.

 • The part number for the magnetron is AP2025937
