Does anyone have diagram, or pictures, or video showing how to replace the handle?
I took off the top screw but have no access to the bottom screw.
I just replaced the door handle successfully by referencing the pix and video from previous posting. Thanks to those provided information.
I referenced Admin/APP Team post dated 08-01-2007 with diagram. I used a table knife, gently pop open #2. Even though the diagram is not for GE, door assembly is about the same.
The top screw can be accessed from inside of the door. Bottom screw is hidden behind #2. Once #2 is removed, I unscrew the bottom screw then put on the new one.
If you have GE model diagram, it would be part #1805 to be popped out. Also, I purchased new handle from ******** with half the price quoted by GE.
Cracked handle owner here too  Any advise on taking my door apart
GE profile JVM1860SD001? I’m willing to try it if its possible.
Thanks!
Carla
Carla,
You have to remove the inner door frame (#6 on the diagram). You can use the same instructions and video.

Gene,
Thank you so much! I sucessfully replace the handle on my GE profile. Just a bit of advice to everyone. When you use the butter knife, use it on the sides that have studier material. On mine, the top was very thin so I pryed the side and one side of the bottom, then I was able to pull the top away.
I only had to pull one layer away. The handle is supposed to have two screws on top and two on the bottom. When I took off the first layer only one screw was exposed on the top and the bottom. We decided to not bother getting to the other layer to get the other two screws off.
Everyone’s advice here saved me a bunch of $$ and aggrevation. Thanks!!
I’m glad you were able to fix it. Thank you for your feedback and good luck with your microwave.

I just purchased the #7 door handle to replace it on my Whirlpool Microwave MH1150XMS1 (Stainless). However, there is no #2 inner frame on the door diagram. How do I get to the inner screws? All other models show the inner frame on the door diagram except this one. Thanks in Advance.
Some of the door parts are not shown because Whirlpool does not sell them separate for this model. The access to the screws should be the same.

I took your word for it and was determined to remove the inner frame. Yes there actually was a frame but I was doing more damage to it by removing it from the door. I took a very close look at the frame when I had it partial off and the tabs were mostly just breaking. I continued until the frame was removed. Guess what? NO handle screws under the frame. It looks as if I’d somehow have to remove the front stainless from the door. I’m at a loss and seeing how I can’t replace the inner frame anyways, the microwave is useless.
Option 2 only - buy a new microwave
Hi:
I have a Whirlpool Gold microwave and the handle broke off. How do I replace the handle? Thanks for your help with this!

What is the complete model number of the microwave?

Model # GH5184XPS-4
Gmelkin,
No need to get frustrated, we’ll sort this out real quick.
#2 clips onto the door frame. Using a table knife or something similar (nothing sharp) remove #2. This will expose a couple of #8 screws that hold the handle. Remove the screws. Put the new handle on and secure with screws. Put #2 back on. You should be good to go.
Let us know how it turns out…
I removed the inner door panel that snaps on which uncovered 2 handle screws, but there are 2 more under another metal frame that is directly under the plastic panel I removed. I can’t seem to find a way to remove this frame to get to the screws underneath. There are no screws on the edge of the door nor anything that can be snapped off. The metal frame doesn’t seem to have any fasteners, either, by which I could remove it. Help!
Hi Gene:
I’m still trying to figure out how to replace the door handle on my Whirlpool Gold microwave (model #GH5184XPS-4). I see that fixit4me replied to my post, but for a different model. Are the instructions the same, do you think?

This door has a very different design compare to most others. You can find the instructions in the Service manual.

I have a Whirlpool GH5176XPS0, and am not able to get the inner frame loose. There are a couple of issues:
The first is that the frame is robustly clipped to the door in such a way that putting something (e.g., a knife) around the outer edge actually firmly seats the clips into position (they have protrusions that point toward the center of the glass). I have been able to get a few loose to see this, but still can’t get all of them - it’s almost as if the frame was designed to be destroyed if removed.
The second issue is that the part of the frame where the handle is (to the left when facing the inside of the door) seems to be fastened in some other way. I removed two screws coming in from the left edge of the door, but still can’t get that side of the frame to loosen at all.
Any idea as to what I’m up against with this model?
You probably can use the Service manual from the previous reply.
Gene.
Thanks, Gene.
Long story short - success! The new handle is attached and everything is back together in one piece.
Some additional details, in case anyone else has my type of microwave:
The choke cover on the GH5176XPS0 is actually a little different than in that manual above - it has tabs snapping it to the choke in the same manner the tabs on the door frame snap to the choke, and also has an additional section blocking access to those tabs on the inside (towards the center of the door) edge, giving it a cross-section comprised of three sides of a square (the missing edge is towards the front of the door). After a lot of playing with it, my wife I were able to figure out that putting a butter knife part (about 1/3 to 1/2) of the way in on the additional section and prying usually popped the tab on the opposite edge loose. Once the cover was pulled back, it was indeed very similar to the manual Gene referred me to.
Thanks again, Gene.
