Microwave handle repair

I just received a door handle for my microwave oven. Part Number 8169737 and I was wondering beside the 3 screws on the bottom of the door, how do I get the inside part of the door off to access the screws for the door handle. I would appreciate your help in this matter. Thank you.

Rich,

Here are the instructions on dismantling the microwave door.

You’ll be able to do the repair following these procedures from the service manual

Good Luck,

Thank you for the reply but at risk of sounding ignorant, what is the choke cover thats by the top door pin

Rich,

The “choke” or choke cover,

Basically, is the metal (inner) door panel.

Some, not all, units have a “plastic” insert in the corners, to cover the hinge(s), to eliminate a possible “arcing” situation.

The metal inner door panel(choke)is needed to keep the microwaves in the cavity, instead of passing through the glass or plastic door panel.

Hope this helps you,

Thank you for assisting me with the repair of the door handle.

You’re quite welcome,

Did the attached instructions, help you to perform the repair ?

Did the explanation of the “Choke” assembly, help to understand the operation of the door inner panel ?

We’re glad your microwave is up and running.

Good Luck,

Thanks, again

The explaination of the choke considerably. The instruction were also helpful.

Rich,

Glad we were able to help.

Have a good Holiday Season.

Copenhagen,

You most likely have an “open” cavity thermostat,
[PART]AP3204696[/PART]

The thermostat is designed to “open” when the temperature in the cavity exceeds a pre set temperature, and shuts off power to the cooking circuit.

Basically a “safety” device.

It is located on the top of the microwave cavity, under the outer cabinet.

Baked potatoes, seem to be the most common reason these devices open and cause a no cook symptom .

Good Luck,
