You need to take off the front cover and see if the motor is turning when it is supposed to be spinning. If it is, or trying to turn then the transmission could be the problem and if so plan on that trip to Mr. New Washing Machine store.
I have a Maytag Dependable Care washer model LAT8706AAE.
It’s no longer spinning and draining the water unless I open and close the lid when I know that spinning is suppose to start.
In other words, if I do nothing the washer is agitating for the whole duration of the program and completes the program with water and detergent in it.
If I open and close the lid when the clock is actually showing that the washer is supposed to spin, the washer suddenly starts spinning and pumping out the water.
What could be the defective part? Thanks.
It can be the timer or the lid switch. Check the lid switch first but I think it is the timer if the timer is continuing to operate when the is not working.
Thanks for replying to my question.
The switch seems to be ok. I tested it and it turns on and off the circuit. I don’t understand though why it has four connectors. I even opened it up and it seems to have a bimetallic strip built in. Is the purpose of that just to protect for overheating or it’s got some other purpose that can generate the behavior I’m experiencing?
For a while mine was stopping when it got to spin cycle and i would have to force it to finish. Then it would only work in one cycle and Now it wont spin or drain at all.
What part do i need ?
Everything else is working fine and Everything has been cleaned.
