I have an odor of Rotten eggs coming from my washing machine. I also noticed that when i shake the drum i can hear some water sloshing around in there (though not visible). Now also last week 3 times when I ran a load, and it stopped I went to get the clothes and notices the washer was still full of soapy water. I did order a new timing switch but have yet to install it, because the last 3 times I ran a load it no longer was leaving the clothes in soapy water (problem seems to have resolved itself for now). So I like to know if it is normal to have some water remaining in the drum after the machine has run. And if not does it mean a new pump is needed?
It is not normal, and based on your description it sounds more like an obstruction in the pump or in the lines inside the machine. Check em out.
