Hi, I am replacing a motor in my maytag washer. There is a spring - it looks more like a clip, that attaches to the motor and to something else - whether it is the base or what I can’t remember. Does anyone know where this particular spring fits??? The part number for the spring is AP4027842 and the parts diagram listing number is #5 of the motor diagram. Help???
I think this is what is called a pivot spring and it goes into the motor and into the base.
It does not show up in the manual for your machine, but here is a manual for a similar machine. Check pages 7-6 and 7-7 and see if that helps.

Sidfink, tahanks for repying to my inquiry about the spring on Maytag washer MAV2755AWW Rev 26. I finally figured it out but still want to think you for replying. This is my first experience with online service repair help. I wasn’t expecting an answer until next May sometime, if then… If this is the way of things t come I hope they will begin putting together service manuals because the parts manuals aren’t discript enough for the layman to figure the stuff that is left out of the parts diagrams. OR here is an idea Why don’t we start building things in the USA again!!! Making the parts stronger and more reliable!!! Honestly the part that broke was a ridiculous size stud for the job it has to do and it was made out of the cheapest type off metal - it might as well have been nylon - which is replaceing a lot of metal parts in everything now.
Frustrated with the position America is taking as our place in the world market. Fat and lazy and good for nothing. So sad.
But, my thanks to you! The two and a half year old Maytag Heavy Duty washer has a brand new motor because one 3/16" x 1 1/4"L stud snapped off.. Buy the whole motor…Ok. Warm regards to you sir, CV

Hi Cathy
Glad you got it figured out, and I agree with most of your comments. Unfortunately in my opinion it is even worse then you have experienced. The major manufacturers have gone to front load washers with microprocessor controls, and not only does this not improve the performance of the machine, they cost more, break more frequently and are more costly to repair.
It is unfortunate you had a bad experience, but if you look at the posts on this and other Forums you will see much greater horror stories of people that paid big bucks for a state of the art machine which now cannot be fixed without more big bucks.
Good luck with your washer, let us know if you need any more help.
